Initial Credentialing and Recredentialing Approval Process

CCPA’s credentialing and recredentialing approval process involves the CCPA Credentialing Committee (Committee).  The Committee is a peer-review body with members from the range of pediatricians and pediatric specialists who are members of CCPA.

The Committee shall have the opportunity to review each application and reappointment on an individual basis.  All malpractice cases, disciplinary actions taken against the practitioner, felony convictions, and any other pertinent information relevant to the applicant’s qualifications that have occurred in the past four years shall be reviewed.  During the Committee’s credentialing meeting, they shall have the opportunity to discuss each file and have final approval and denial authority regarding new and reappointed applicants.

If the applicant’s file is approved by the Committee, an approval form will be signed by any committee member and the approval will be documented in the meeting minutes.  The applicant will receive an approval letter stating if their initial / recredentialing has been approved.

If the applicant’s file is denied by the Committee, a denial/termination will be documented in the meeting minutes.  The applicant will receive a letter of denial (initial credentialing) and termination (recredentialing).
